Citymoves Dance Space
Citymoves is part of Neighbourhood Services (Central Area), providing a service throughout the City.
The team co-ordinates a programme of community and specialist dance classes and workshops through it’s city centre studio space,
Citymoves is the regional dance agency for the North East and promotes a range of dance activities for people of all ages both within citymoves dance space in Schoolhill and at outreach venues throughout the City. Citymoves encourages participation in dance as a creative, social and physical activity which improves fitness and well being. The city centre dance programme houses a variety of dance classes, workshops and performance groups as well as serving to raise the profile of dance and providing an information and meeting point for dancers and choreographers. The citymoves studio programme, which contains over 40 classes per week attracts participants from a fifty mile radius of the City. Classes at citymoves are subsidised.
Through its professional dance programme, supported by Scottish Arts Council Foundation funding citymoves supports local and visiting professional dance artists and companies, allowing them to teach, choreograph, create and platform new work professionally in Aberdeen and the North East. Citymoves is staffed by a team of Dance Development Officers, Clerical and Administrative staff. All workshops are led by highly qualified and experienced dance practitioners.
Opening Hours
Office opening hours are Monday: Friday 9:30am – 5:00pm. Citymoves is also open evenings and weekends depending on workshop activities.
