Call out for Participants for online Dancelive performance
Updated: Sep 13
Pirita Tuisku (FI/UK) and Thabo Mokolobate (SA) have created an online live performance called Hallowed Walls, which will premiere as part of DanceLive festival (14-17th October). The performance is about people’s experiences in this challenging year we all have faced. What if our walls could tell us what they have seen?
Do you have an interest in the performing arts? Do you want to dive into performing in an online space, and learn more about the tools used by the artists who merge dance and poetry?
If this catches your interest, then this opportunity is for you!
This performance is created with interested participants, who are invited to take part in 3 free online workshops in the run up to the performance. The first premiere for the performance will be on the evening of 15th of October during DanceLive and the rest of the performances will be hosted by Pirita and Thabo from 16th to 30th of October, all on Zoom.
The workshops are for anyone who has an interest in the performing arts and wants to learn something new. Experience in performing or working with dance, spoken word, or physical theatre will help you gain the most from the workshop, but this does not need to be at a professional level. We want to bring together people from different age ranges (from 13+ to adults) and from different cities, to learn together, get to know each other and find out how Pirita and Thabo worked together creating this performance.
We ask participants to commit to 3 Saturday workshops on Zoom: 25th of September 2021 12-3 pm, 2nd of October 2021 12-3pm and 9th of October 2021 12-3 pm
If you might miss one workshop, we will send you the recording. But we ask everyone to join the first one, as it will open the whole 3 workshops and the performance.
To register your interest, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Thursday 23rd September. Please put ‘Hallowed Walls’ in the email headline. Registered participants will then be sent a short questionnaire detailing more info about the process and where you can say which performances you could join in.
If you have any further questions about the workshops, you can contact Pirita directly at pirita.tuisku(a)hotmail.com
Pirita is a Finnish Dance artist based in Edinburgh and Thabo is a spoken word artist from Soweto, South Africa. Together they have created this unique experience in an online space, merging dance and poetry.
The production is funded by Creative Scotland Lottery Fund and Dance Base, and is partnered with DanceLive who are hosting these workshops and facilitating the premiere performance.
