NEW CEO APPOINTED AT CITYMOVES DANCE AGENCY
The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Hayley Durward as the new Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect at Citymoves Dance Agency.
Hayley, who has been a Dance Development Manager with Citymoves for 10 years will move into the role on 1st June, taking over from Carol Benzie who is leaving to spend more time overseas.
Citymoves is the regional dance agency for North East Scotland and has been in operation for over 30 years. Originally part of Aberdeen City Council (Education and Children’s Services), it became an independent organisation with SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) status in October 2016. Its primary funders are Aberdeen City Council and Creative Scotland.
Citymoves’ mission is ‘to Promote Positive Impacts Through Dance in the North East of Scotland’. It operates out of dance studios in Belmont Street and the Anatomy Rooms at Marischal College, and runs the annual Dancelive Festival of Dance during October.
Commenting on the appointment, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Annette Murray said;
“We are thrilled to have appointed Hayley to this important and key role for Citymoves and the wider culture sector in Aberdeen. Hayley brings a deep knowledge of the dance sector locally, nationally, and internationally and will keep up the momentum of driving forward Citymoves’ ambitious business plan, developing upon the amazing foundation and groundwork that has been achieved since it became an independent organisation in 2016.
It is also gratifying to see talent progress through the organisation as Hayley makes the transition from working in a development capacity to now leading the charity in this pivotal role.
We wish to extend a huge thanks to our outgoing CEO, Carol Benzie, who has achieved so much over the last two years to put Citymoves on a very sound footing in the most challenging of times.”
Commenting on her new role, Hayley said,
“I am delighted to become the new CEO of Citymoves Dance Agency and see an organisation I have grown with be taken on the next part of its journey. As a trained dancer, educator and development manager I look forward to working with my established and future network of local and national partners. This is an exciting time for dance in Scotland reconnecting after the year that we have had.
I am an advocate of home grown talent from grass roots to professional dancers, connecting the North East of Scotland to National and International platforms. Participation is at the core of all we do at Citymoves; with a strong staff team and tutors, we are primed to take the organisation forward into its 35th Anniversary year.”
