Dance for Health
At Citymoves, dance is for everyone. We encourage dance participation for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds and promote the physical, mental, and social benefits of dance.
Our Dance for Health Programmes currently encompass our Rota of Dance for Parkinson's Classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and our upcoming partnership with Healing Arts Scotland.

Dance for Health Programmes
Citymoves is delighted to host a weekly Tuesday class designed especially for people living with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. These classes are suitable for people with no dance experience and will develop confidence and creativity, whilst addressing Parkinson’s specific concerns such as: balance, flexibility, coordination, gait and social isolation.
This one-hour virtual class will develop participants' confidence and creativity. A Citymoves Tutor guides participants through physical and cognitive training, improvisation, and technique. This Active Class addresses Parkinson's specific concerns such as balance, coordination, gait, and social isolation. The class will consist of a progressive standing warmup, standing barre work, and travelling steps. No previous dance experience is required.
Citymoves is thrilled to be a part of Healing Arts Scotland 2024, a country-wide week-long activation celebrating and advocating for improved physical, mental and social health through the arts. Spearheaded by Scottish Ballet as part of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab’s global ‘Healing Arts’ campaign in collaboration with the World Health Organisation, the one-week activation event will be produced together with a national coalition of organisations across culture, science, health, education and government.
